Location: Captain’s Ready Room
Ezrik walked with some slight trepidation towards the turbolift. Today was his first day on Newton and he was hoping to make a good impression. Unfortunately; Gohod, Gradak,Nilani, Neema, Jarem, Enjima, Dedrij, and Farob wished to make one as well.
‘ Couldn’t you have worn something a bit more... dazzling?’ Asked Gradak with a judgmental drawl lacing the question.
Dedrij evidently disagreed. ‘Come one now. The boy looks smart in that uniform. In fact, he never looked better. He’s putting our best foot forward.’
“Can you all shut up?!” Ezrik shouted in a whisper as he entered the lift.
‘Well I never.’ Neema asserted, clearly not impressed with how Ezrik was trying to dismiss them.
Suddenly all of the previous hosts spoke at once. All arguing about the situation.
“Shut up, shut up, shut up, shut up!” Ezrik yelled as the doors parted and a rather scared looking Crewman stepped back, allowing the Trill to continue alone.
The voices subsided and Kaz smoothed down his uniform while taking a few breaths. The lift stopped on Deck One and the Lieutenant stepped out moving in the direction of the Captain’s Ready Room. He took a long unsteady breath and pressed the chime.
"Come in," called the captain as she set aside her cup of tea on her desk.
Ezrik entered as ordered. “Commander...” he hesitated.
‘Reisz!’ Nilani whispered to Ezrik.
“Commander Reisz.” Lieutenant Kaz said finally, in greeting.
"That would be me," Diana said with a grin. "Have a seat."
Ezrik nodded. “I have my transfer orders for you ma’am.” He slid a PADD on the desk and took a seat swiftly. “I hope it’s all in order.”
‘Of course it’s all in order!” Farob snapped.Ezrik squeezed his eyes closed. His fists were clenched on the arm of the chair he was offered.
Diana took the offered PaDD and glanced it over. "It seems to be. She glanced up at the man as she said this and took note of the odd tension in his face. "Are you alright?"
“Quite.” Ezrik said, opening his eyes. “If I’m honest, I am a bit tired from the trip here.”
Neema didn’t like that answer. ‘Liar!” She said to Ezrik. ‘Why do you lie so much?’
“I’ll be fine ma’am.” Ezrik ignored Neema’s shrill voice in his head. “May I ask when the Tactical systems were last updated?” He tried to take the reigns of the conversation.
Reisz continued to eye the man speculatively. He seemed like he might be ill, not just tired. "I believe your predecessor saw to them when he was here. If you need to rest before you begin, please do. We're all still falling back into step a bit slowly after the attack."
Ezrik shook his head. “I’d prefer to get right into work ma’am.” The Trill seems almost insistent.
Diana arched an eyebrow at that, but nodded none the less. "If you think that you can, so be it. At least grab a cup of coffee." She handed him back the PaDD that he'd handed her. "Your orders are logged and in order. Welcome aboard."
“Thank you Ma’am, I look forward to serving with you.” He took the PaDD and stood waiting for his dismissal.
‘Should you salute?!?’ Nilani asked earnestly. Ezrik shook his head ever so slightly to dismiss the notion.
"I look forward to that, too. You're dismissed," Diana told him with a slight smile.
Ezrik stood at attention for a moment and smiled before turning on his heel to leave.
‘I still think that situation warranted a salute.’ Nagged Nilani, her voice echoed as the door hissed open for Ezrik.
The Lieutenant crossed the bridge, quickly scoping out the Tactical Station and dismissing the Bolian that manned it. “We’ll... I’ll take it from here Crewman.”
